Health Testing
Please ensure the breeder you select is health testing their breeding stock, no matter what breed of dog. There is health testing that should be done to ensure the genetic soundness, as much as possible, of the puppy you are purchasing and the genetic health of the parent dogs used.
All our Australian Labradoodles are Hip scored by the BVA, AVA, OFA or Pennhip.
Hip scoring measures 'how good the hip is' on a scale of 0-106 (up to 53 on each hip), 0 being perfect and 106 being the worst possible score.
All our dogs are Elbow scored by the BVA
Elbow scoring measures 'how good the elbow is' on a scale of 0-3, 0 being perfect and 3 being the worst possible score.
All our dogs are CERF eye tested
Eye testing tests for the following inherited eye diseases:
MRD - Multifocal Retinal Dysplasia
TRD - Total Retinal Dysplasia
GPRA - Generalised Progressive Retinal Atrophy
CPRA - Central Progressive Retinal Atrophy
The result of this eye test is either 'clear' or 'affected'.
All our dogs are Optigen tested
The OptiGen prcd-PRA test is a DNA-based test that helps you avoid one form of Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). PRA refers to a group of diseases that cause the retina of the eye to degenerate slowly over time. The result is declining vision and eventual blindness. “prcd” stands for “progressive rod-cone degeneration” which is the type of PRA known in several breeds.
| Possible results using the OptiGen prcd test |
| Genotype | Risk Group | Significance For Breeding | Risk of prcd Disease |

| Heterozygous | Carrier | Should be bred only to Normal/ Clear to remove risk of producing affecteds | Extremely low |
| Homozygous Mutant | Affected | Should be bred only to Normal/ Clear to remove risk of producing affecteds | Very high |
